Karl Maybach follows in the footsteps of his famous father at an early stage, leaving school at 17 to work as a trainee at the "Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft" in Cannstatt. He studies mechanical engineering in Stuttgart, graduating with distinction, and spends the subsequent years visiting drawing offices in Lausanne, Oxford and Paris.
